Dry Cleaners

Ok, so I spent like 30 minutes yesterday calling 22 local dry cleaners to find their rates. It was the most fucking EXHAUSTING experience ever. Why so many? Once I started I was determined to find the cheapest fucking rate possible. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at some of the stupid shit I heard/couldn’t understand them saying.
—
Here are the two questions I had:
1) How much to iron a dress shirt?
2) How much to wash & iron a dress shirt?
—
First of all, here is how 80% of every place I called answered the phone:
“Hello?”
(Who the fuck own a business and answers the phone like that?)
—
My response & subsequent convo:
“Um, hello? Is this xxx dry cleaners?”
“Yes.”
“(lol)”
—
And that’s if I even understood them. Here’s another great interaction I had:
“How much do you charge to iron a dress shirt?”
“Thirty.”
“THIRTY?”
“THIRTY.”
“THIRTY DOLLARS?”
“No three.”
WAT.
—
And of course there was the inconsistency of charging different amounts for both services. For some reason (you have to get the shirt wet anyway BAH BLAH BLAH) washing and iron costs less. So most places gave me two rates, sometimes at a huge gap in price. Keep in mind, 80% of the places (btw I’m never using actual math here) have different rates for the two services.

Here was the exchange with the other 20% (and my helpful comments):
“How much to iron a dress shirt?”
“Three dollars (or whatever).” *matter of factly*
“How much to machine wash and iron a dress shirt?”
“Yeah, THREE DOLLARS.” *slightly irritated, incredulous demeanor*
“So, it’s the same price to iron as it is to wash & iron?” *not the norm; confirming*
“YES IT’S THE SAME PRICE (FAGGOT)!”

Wheeeeee!
